Yoga & Sustainable Practice

I still remember the first time I rolled out a yoga mat and actually stayed there. Not because I nailed a certain pose, but because during a season when everything felt heavy, my breath and mind slowed down. The yoga mat became less of a tool and more of a permission slip – a soft space to land, really – where I could explore freely, feel deeply, reconnect openly and just be.

That’s still how I see the yoga mat today: a place to explore deeper connections, where we don’t “spend” time, but gain it!

My teaching has grown from that same place. I love blending traditional yogic practices, philosophy, soundbath, mantra and meditation, with contemporary flows inspired by my background in dance and music. In my classes, we pay close attention to the body: anatomical awareness, pranayama, mindfulness, and above all, being held in energising, refreshing and nurturing energy.

The shift toward conscious choices

Over the years, the way I show up on my mat has changed. What started as a physical practice and a recovery journey slowly became a lifestyle of noticing – the quality of my breath, the food I eat, the thoughts I loop, the information and energy I consume, the people I surround myself with and of course, even the props I use to support my practice.

Choosing sustainable, eco-friendly yoga gear felt like a small shift at first, but it’s become one of the most impactful ones. When I practice on a cork mat, blocks and massage balls, I’m not just grounding into something grippy and supportive; I’m choosing a material that honours the environment I move, breathe and practice in.

Why Zenvibes?

Zenvibes is an Australian wellness brand inspired by mindful movement, self-care and holistic wellbeing, with a subtle connection to Indian roots. Their hero cork yoga mats, massage tools, meditation bolsters, blankets and eye pillows are thoughtfully designed to support movement, release, rest and deeper relaxation. They bring together natural materials, thoughtful designs and authentic wellness practices to create products that inspire you to move, breathe, release and reconnect.

I’ve been practicing on their cork mat for a while now, and I genuinely love it – grippy, supportive, lightweight, and easy to carry from home to studio to park. It’s the kind of prop that quietly supports the work you’re already doing on the mat. I’ve also been using their 100% sustainable cork self-massage kit regularly and it’s been supporting my recovery and self-care routine holistically. Their natural cork wheel has been a staple for my backbend practice for years, which has helped me to go deeper into my heart-opening practices. And finally, their round cork mat is my sanctuary for meditation, mantra and soundbath – a space that feels so sacred and grounding that holds me in pure presence.

Soundbath & Myofascial Release with Zenvibes at Be Well Hawthorn

That’s part of why I’m so excited to collaborate with Zenvibes for an upcoming Soundbath and Myofascial Release event at Be Well Hawthorn on 4th October 2026.

Together, we’re creating a space to slow all the way down. The session will begin with myofascial release work using Zenvibes 100% cork massage balls to soften tension, improve mobility, and help your nervous system settle. You’ll be held in the gentle, resonant vibrations of a soundbath that will quieten the mind and restore calm. You’ll also take home a small gift from Zenvibes, so you can keep the feeling going. My hope is that you leave lighter, deeply rested, and more at home in your body.

I’d love to see you there. You can book your spot here.

And, if you’d like to support your yoga and wellness journey with eco-friendly and conscious products, you can use my code DSXZEN15 for 15% off your Zenvibes order. It’s a small way to keep choosing props that support both your practice and the planet.
